Happy 50th birthday to The Cat in the Hat. You can always identify the parents of a six-year old in a business meeting: When the leader says, “We need to concentrate on two things,” they’re the ones who reflexively murmur, “Thing One and Thing Two.”

I am planning to wear my Cat in the Hat hat.
This must be like the National Holiday for Children’s Book writers!
Speaking of which… Does Virginia have a State Children’s Book series?
Good question. In South Dakota, we all read the Little House books. Not the official state children’s book, but close enough. Who went to elementary school in Virginia and can answer James’ question?
I know when i was 6 or 7 i used to wake up at 5 in the morning every morning just to read “Dragon’s Fat Cat” over and over…
It was actually the first book i ever read myself… I think (it was a decade ago :-P)
Sorry for the late comment, but it occurred to me that The Cat in the Hat is now eligible for AARP membership. Somehow that is heartening…I hope someone is willing to pay for his first year dues.
